Jurysta family tree: sources and boundaries

Reconciled 22 September 2026. Dates are Gregorian unless a source conflict is stated.

The established direct line

  1. Majer Jurysta and Rywka — Majer was born about 1782–83; Rywka died before May 1829.
  2. Lewek Jurysta and Marya Moszkowicz — married 21 May 1829, Działoszyce Act 4. Lewek’s parents were Majer and deceased Rywka. Marya’s parents were deceased Zanel Moszkowicz and Mindla.
  3. Abram “Sandel Abram” Jurysta and Chana Rywka Pilarz — Abram was born 11 August 1830 to Lewek and Marya, married Ryfka Pilarz in 1852, and fathered Majer later that year.
  4. Majer Jurysta and Tauba Sziewicz — Majer was born 5 December 1852 and married Tauba on 28 February 1873, Act 7.
  5. Judka Jurysta and Bluma Swicarczyk — Judka was born 13 April 1874 and married Bluma on 6 April 1894, Act 11.
  6. Symcha Jurysta and Szajndla Fisz — Symcha was born 2 April 1895; Szajndla was born 2 December 1892 in Nowy Korczyn.

Why the chain is now connected. Lewek’s 1829 marriage names Majer and deceased Rywka; Abram’s 1830 birth names Lewek and Marya; Abram and Ryfka’s 1852 marriage repeats his parents; Majer’s 1852 birth names Abram and Chana Ryfka Pilarz; and Majer’s 1873 marriage names his father with the compound name Sandel Abram and his mother as Rywka Chana née Pilarz/Pilart.

Majer’s probable later household

Children’s acts identify Majer and Fajgla as the parents of Mortka (1836), Abram (1838) and Wolf (1842). Majer’s age aligns with the older family head, but the couple’s marriage act remains unlocated. Fajgla is therefore shown as Majer’s probable later wife, and their children as collateral half-siblings of Lewek. The Abram born in 1838 is not Sandel Abram, who was born in 1830 to Lewek and Marya.

Majer and Tauba’s children

Lejbuś and Małka’s branch

Lejbuś Jurysta married Małka Czosnek on 28 August 1918. Their household register lists Chaim Hersz, Majer, Samba, Szajndla and Moszek Chaskiel. Samba’s recorded birth—1 March 1926 in Działoszyce—matches Tosia/Toshka Jurysta’s archival identity. With Tosia’s parents given as Lejb and Małka, this places Tosia as their daughter and as a granddaughter of Majer and Tauba. “Samba” is retained as a record-name variant rather than silently discarded.

Judka and Bluma’s household

The civil records support one couple. Children presently attached are Symcha (1895), Sandel (1898), Szyja (1899), Henoch/Hejnoch (1901), Henandel/Hernandel (1912), Brandla/Brajndla (1915), and a separately unresolved 1917 son. Symcha’s Act 78 explicitly uses female wording; the matching name, date and parents strongly support the later male household identity, but the discrepancy remains recorded.

Symcha and Szajndla’s household

Confirmed Israel descendant branch

Judka and Bluma’s son Sandel Jurysta married Bajla Rywka Lewandowska. Their sons Shaya/Szaja and Arye/Arie survived and emigrated to Israel. Arye married Rachel; their children are Yaron, Jody and Dudi Yurista. This branch belongs under Sandel’s household, not under Symcha’s.

Collateral lines kept distinct

Current research boundary

Still open: Majer and Fajgla’s marriage and exact marital sequence; Rywka’s maiden surname; the female wording in Symcha’s birth act; Henry’s exact birth date; Shmuel’s complete wartime route; the Częstochowa bridge; and individual wartime fates. Shmuel’s parents are reconciled as Sanel/Sandel Jurysta and Malka Munz. A complete prewar denominator has not been proved, so no family-wide childhood mortality or Holocaust-loss percentage is claimed.
